New York hotel to receive LED display makeover
Barely a week goes by without a story involving the
LED display congregation in New York's Times Square making the headlines, which is unsurprising, given the amount of competition that exists in this small area of Manhattan.
Now the Millennium Broadway Hotel is being overhauled with its very own external LED display, which experts believe will be the largest of its kind in the world, once work is complete.
Panasonic and A2aMEDIA are joining forces to work on the large scale display, which will be able to dominate a particularly significant location within Times Square, making it highly visible and likely to become a bit of a landmark.
It will be the biggest single faced
LED display in Times Square and the technology used within it will be cutting edge, allowing for high definition imagery to be beamed out to the tens of thousands of people who pass by each day.
The installation of the
LED display at the hotel should be completed at some point in the first half of the year and project spokesperson, Andrew Melton, said that it is going to make impressive viewing, given that it is mounted on an already iconic building.
Covering an area of 7,200 square feet, the LED display is ten times larger than a typical outdoor ad hoarding. With 50 million people visiting Times Square annually, it will also have a very impressive marketing reach.
The use of high resolution LED systems means that the screen will be easy to see in all weather conditions and at any time of the day, which is an important asset for any outdoor display.
In addition, the low maintenance requirements and impressive longevity of LED technology means that the upkeep work will not be too disruptive to the hotel.
