The summer of 2011 saw the UK host a large number of festivals, concerts and events of all kinds. This year many of them features
LED signs and boards, which were used to provide information, advice and advertisements to the hundreds of thousands of visitors.
At the famous Glastonbury Festival,
LED signs were used in order to manage the large crowds, giving them information about any changes to the running order and timings, as well as telling them which routes through the festival grounds would be the least congested and where they would not be faced with significant queues.
Other festivals including the Reading and Leeds events, Oxygen in Ireland and Bestival on the Isle of Wight, were all decked out with LED signs serving much the same purpose as they did at Glastonbury.
Festivals were not the only places at which LED signs could be seen, as the British Military Tournament in Earls Court and the Moonwalk events in both Edinburgh and London benefitted from the clarity and the cost-effectiveness of the technology in 2011.
Of course LED signs are used for much more than just providing information as they can also be integrated into artistic installations and exhibitions, providing light and spreading a message that is more complex than simple instructions.
The key benefits for event organisers when using LED systems is not only the flexibility and convenience of the digital format, but also the energy efficiency and minimal setup requirements which come as part and parcel of the technology.
It is likely that the festivals and events of 2012 will rely in increasing numbers on LED systems in order to convey vital details to visitors, keep them entertained, engage them and also advertise to them, according to an article on Events Industry News.
